“I have heard your prayer and your petition. I have set this Temple apart to be holy—this place you have built where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.”
1 Kings 9:3
We know about God’s appearance to Solomon when He gifted him with wisdom. However, after dedicating the Temple, God appeared to Solomon again. That time the gift He gave reaches all the way to me!
God told Solomon He had set apart the Temple to be holy, a place where His name would be honored. Today, I am that temple, so, I am the one to house a holy God and bring honor to His name!
Before I feel overwhelmed by such a task, I need to hear the promise of the relationship—God would always watch over the Temple because it was dear to His heart. With such unbelievable love GOD watches over ME, because I too am dear to His heart! HIS eyes and HIS heart are ALWAYS on ME!
Solomon did not earn those privileges from Almighty God any more than I do! Such blessings flow from relationship. God warned Solomon of the disasters that would come to the Temple if his descendants chose to abandon relationship to worship other gods. The same choice is mine.
So, in THIS temple I choose to honor God’s name above any gods of this world. After all, no other gods could ever offer such an amazing relationship…
God’s eye always watches over me for I am dear to His heart!
