Introduction to the Book of Genesis - The God Who Pursues
The word genesis means beginning. The book of Genesis is just that…the beginning of man’s life, and more importantly, the beginning of his relationship with the Creator. From the first man Adam to Abraham’s great grandson Joseph, the author paints real-life pictures of that relationship as we watch each generation struggle with faith in a God they were just beginning to know.
However, the idea of relationship between God and man was birthed in the heart of God before creation. All through scripture, we see God pursuing man—all because He loves us and wants to be close to us. May the stories in this book inspire us to respond to God’s pursuit, and may we allow our relationship with God to grow as we get to know Him better!
