“After leaving Marah, the Israelites traveled on to the oasis of Elim, where they found twelve springs and seventy palm trees. They camped there beside the water.”
Exodus 15:27
Marah was not only a place where bitter waters became sweet, but also a place where God tested His people. Would they TRUST Him enough to obey His ways? If so, THEN the Lord Who Heals would take care of them. Yesterday I shared how Ron and I experienced a miracle of healing in our hearts, but it only came when we TRUSTED God enough to let go of our bitterness! Several months later, my final journal entry before leaving our Marah concluded with these words, "After bitter water came twelve springs and seventy palm trees." A few days before that entry I had phoned my sister to see if she could help us find affordable housing in California. The next day, she "just happened" to be with a friend who "just happened" to say, "I sure wish I could find someone to live in my house!" Even after hearing our meager housing allowance, she generously offered her home to us. That house "just happened" to be located along the water on a street that "just happened" to be lined with palm trees!
Every time I drove down that street, I was tempted to count those palm trees, and I am quite sure there would have been 70…because that’s just how our God blesses trust!
