“Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth!"
Psalm 86:11
Since childhood, God’s Word had been my Source of comfort and peace. But in 2010, I realized I can’t just use it as a pillow of comfort. The Word is also a mirror of revelation, and its Truth was confronting my foolish ways.
The Israelites ended up in exile because they “rejected the law of the LORD.” (Isaiah 5:24) I didn’t want to keep wandering around in my own exile, enslaved by lies that certainly didn’t come from God’s Word! HE never asked me to please everyone or to be responsible for their needs. Wearing myself out was a foolish way to live! Jesus’ invitation had always been, “Come, take MY yoke, let ME teach you.”
Would I too reject GOD’s ways and keep wandering in my own foolish ways? Thankfully,
“I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow Your ways.” (Ps. 119:59) On February 8, 2010, I began a life-long transaction—trading my ways for His ways. That exchange continues daily as I walk in HIS yoke and listen to HIS voice, “Not that way, Wanda; this way!”
God’s nudges are never condemning, always loving—and His Truth is addictive! In fact, this verse has become my daily prayer—would you like to join me?
“Teach me YOUR ways, O Lord, that I may LIVE according to YOUR Truth.”
