If God’s love is unfailing, that means HIS love simply CANNOT fail! So then why would I count on my own horses to give me victory? Of course, God gave me certain skills, but the strength of those warhorses is helpless to save me. Instead, the LORD rescues those who rely on HIS unfailing love!
I didn’t’ know how to swim when a footbridge collapsed beneath my feet. I couldn’t stop machine guns firing around us, carjackers from surrounding my vehicle, or rioters from attacking my husband. But the LORD’s unfailing love rescued us from death every time!
When Ron and I had no money to care for our young family, the LORD kept our bodies alive with boxes of food left on our doorstep and bags of clothing delivered to our baby. Years later when our souls had been drained of hope, the LORD kept our famished hearts alive with His Word and His Presence.
David admonished us to sing for joy because God’s unfailing love fills the earth. But later he prayed for God’s unfailing love to surround US! (v 22) How encouraging—God’s love is not just “out there somewhere!” God’s unfailing love SURROUNDS you and me! And that love CANNOT fail—no matter what!
