“All by Myself”

Moses said, “You are too great a burden for me to carry all by myself…How can I deal with all your problems and bickering? Choose some well-respected men…who are known for their wisdom and understanding, and I will appoint them as your leaders.”

Deuteronomy 1:9-13

After forty long years, the Israelites were finally at the door of the Promised Land. Moses began a review of their journey with God’s challenge at Mt. Sinai…GO to the land of the Canaanites…I am giving it to you…GO in and occupy it!

However, Moses halted God’s pep talk abruptly to ponder some feelings he had experienced…this burden is too heavy to carry…it will get worse…how can I do this…I am all by myself! Ever felt like that? God has given you promises, you are right at the door of an amazing breakthrough, and yet waves of emotion overwhelm you…this is too much…I can’t do this…I’m all by myself!

Before you get too discouraged, hear the rest of the story. Moses recalled God’s rescue plan…choose other people to help you. God never planned for Moses to be alone. He had already prepared others known for wisdom and understanding, exactly the kind of people Moses needed!

All by myself is not a phrase God intended for you either. Before you were born, He declared, “It is not good for man to be alone…” That is why GOD prepared people with wisdom and understanding customized for you, and HE deliberately put them in your life to help you.

So, when you enter your promised land, may you never say, “I did it all by myself!”
