“And because God was clearly helping the Levites as they carried the Ark of the LORD’s Covenant, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams…So all Israel brought up the Ark of the LORD’s Covenant with shouts of joy, the blowing of rams’ horns and trumpets, the crashing of cymbals, and loud playing on harps and lyres.”
1 Chronicles 15:26, 28
Never underestimate the power of GOD to turn failure into beauty. During the three months following the initial Ark-moving disaster, David gained a fresh view of God. He humbly realized the mission had failed because the Levites did not carry the Ark the first time.
Now David ordered the priests and Levites to purify themselves so they could carry the Ark on their shoulders, according to the law of Moses. He also had the Levites appoint a choir and orchestra for worship. Other Levites were chosen to blow the trumpets and to guard the Ark. The entire procession was led by priests and Levites, chosen by God, and organized according to His instructions. This time there was no confusion, no stumbling, no deaths, and all of Israel experienced great joy!
As GOD’s temple today, I too have the priestly privilege of being an Ark Carrier. When I purify myself, I can carry God’s Presence with power! Remember when the priests carrying the Ark, stepped their feet into the Jordan River, the waters parted! Remember when the Philistines stole the Ark and sat it down in front of Dagon, he fell on his face! Remember when the priests carried the Ark around Jericho, the walls fell! The Power was not in the priests, but in the One they carried!
Be an Ark Carrier…carry HIS Presence…and HIS power will do miracles!
