“It was I who rescued you from the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. I am the Lord.”
Leviticus 22:33
“I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt so you
would no longer be slaves. I broke the yoke of slavery from your neck
so you can walk with your heads held high.”
Leviticus 26:13
God’s purpose in delivering the Israelites was two-fold: to be their God, and so they would no longer be slaves. Even while they carried heavy bricks and felt cruel whips, God was always watching, feeling their pain, and waiting for the day to end to their slavery!
The signs of slavery show on our bodies. When we carry burdens of fear or when we’re beaten every day with “you’re nobody” lies, our feet begin to shuffle, our shoulders droop, and our heads hang low. But notice what happened when God stepped on the Egyptian scene…HE broke the yoke of slavery from their neck so they would walk with their heads held high.”
Your God sees the junk that weighs on you. But it was never His plan that you plod through life with your head down, starring at the muddy mess around your feet. When God set you free from sin, He intended you to walk in that freedom with your head held high. Maybe it’s time to let Jesus lift your chin so you can look into His eyes. There you’ll find courage to face the future. Whether you see clouds or sunshine, keep looking up…it’s a better view than the mud! And besides, you were set free so you could walk with your head held high!
