“So David went to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. ‘The Lord did it!’ David exclaimed. ‘He burst through my enemies like a raging flood!’ So he named the place Baal-perazim (which means ‘the Lord who bursts through’).”
2 Samuel 5:20
If you ever survived a flood, then you know the devastating power of raging waters that no human can stop.
When God promised HE would hand the enemy over to him, David had no idea of the power that was about to be released. The wall of Philistines that looked so impenetrable to David was nothing to God as HIS power burst through like a raging flood!
The dictionary says to burst through is to penetrate or force a way through a barrier. That is what the LORD did to the impossible barrier in front of David—HE forced a way through! Has God’s power changed? Can’t HE still burst through the barriers in your path?
When flood waters begin to rage, they are unstoppable. Remember God’s display of anger toward the Egyptians who were harming HIS people? Remember the raging waters that covered those enemies in the Red Sea? You too are HIS treasure, and HE guards what belongs to Him!
Your enemy better get ready to face raging waters. You may see no way through his blockade ahead, but your faithful God is already churning the waters. So, turn your focus from your enemy to his Destroyer, because soon HIS power will burst through like a raging flood! And you too will exclaim, “The LORD did it!”
