“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh…
I am Yahweh—the Lord…You can be sure that I have heard….
Exodus 6:1, 5
After being accused of doing nothing to rescue His people, God had heard enough. I can almost see God stand up as He raised His powerful voice to declare, “Now you will see…” God informed Moses that he was about to witness who God is and what God will do. Yahweh revealed His credentials that day as He continued…I have heard (past action), I am well aware, (present action), and I will free you…I will redeem you…I will claim you as my own…I will be your God…I will bring you into the land…I will give it to you (future actions). This Yahweh, who depends on no other, covered everything…their past, their present, and their future!
God not only raised his voice to declare, “Now you will see…” but I especially appreciate the gentle, loving phrase He added, “You can be sure…” This Almighty God wanted to guarantee that ALL His children knew without a doubt that they could trust not only His powerful hand, but also His loving heart. Actually, those two phrases are inextricably linked together…the more we realize what God did in our past, and the more we see God working now, our hearts can be sure that God will not forget us in the future! Wherever we are, we will see God!
