and with all the earth. When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds, and I will remember my covenant with you…”
Genesis 9:12-17 NLT
God made a covenant with Noah and gave the rainbow as a sign of His promise. It’s interesting to notice that God said, “…the rainbow will appear IN the clouds.” That statement makes me wonder about the clouds that come floating into my own life. Even though I would prefer sunshiny skies, could it be that God sends clouds so He can show me something special?
If I understand Genesis 9 correctly, there is always a rainbow present IN the clouds. God Himself put it there for me, so why don’t I always see it? A little research helped me understand that seeing rainbows depends on one’s location in relationship to the sun. Therefore, if I want to see rainbows, perhaps I need to change my position. When I shift my steps to walk in the light of the SON, my focus will also shift from seeing only dark clouds to seeing the rainbow inside.
God’s clouds always come with rainbows. They are reminder rainbows…reminding GOD of His promise (v 15) and reminding US of His faithfulness. So, let us be careful to walk in the light of THE Son today. We don’t want to miss His awesome display of love…rainbows IN the midst of our clouds!”
