“Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land.”
Exodus 14:21
As darkness fell, the Israelites lay trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s entire army. Fear of either slavery or death began to haunt their minds, and then they began to hear the sound of wind. As the sound grew louder and louder, I wonder if a new fear gripped their minds, “Now a storm is going to kill us!”
However, before the night was over, the Israelites realized that what sounded like a dreadful storm was not that at all…it was the voice of deliverance! In fact, their victory song later revealed the wind’s source, “At the blast of your breath, the waters piled up!” The wind was not a storm of destruction, it was the breath of God creating a miracle! The song continued, “The enemy boasted, ‘I will chase them…catch them…destroy them…’ But you blew with your breath, and the sea covered them!”
That’s exactly what our enemy does…he boasts loudly…he sounds fierce. And how many times do we misinterpret his bag of wind as a storm that will destroy us? On the other hand, all it takes is for our GOD to simply blow His breath, and miracles take place!
So how then will we interpret the winds we hear in our future? Will we imagine disastrous storms are brewing or will we anticipate miracles are forming?
