“Next came the Kohathite division of the Levites, carrying the sacred objects from the Tabernacle. Before they arrived at the next camp, the Tabernacle would already be set up at its new location…They marched for three days after leaving the mountain of the Lord, with the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant moving ahead of them to show them where to stop and rest.”

What a grand procession…millions of people marching under their tribal banners across a steaming desert. God ordered this parade of tribes carrying their tents, but He also made arrangements for HIS tent.
Sandwiched in between the tribes, the Levites carried the Tabernacle and all its sacred furnishings. God made sure HIS tent was well protected, and He also made sure it would already be set up at its new location before the family arrived.
What a word for me today…Whether I move to the next city or half-way around the world, make sure I set up GOD’s house in my heart first before I to set up my own house! Or even if I just take one step outside my door or one thousand down the street to visit a neighbor, taking God’s presence with me must still be my primary concern.
The Tabernacle was not only the first tent to be set up at each camp site, but I noticed the Ark of the Covenant moved ahead of the people to show them the best camping place! It seems God won first place in getting His House ready for family worship, and He also took first place to lead His people to the best resting place!
So, I too will put God in first place...wherever He leads me!
