Numbers 14:8-9
After years of waiting, we were finally settled in Uganda. But at thirty-two years of age, I felt overwhelmed wondering how our little family could ever make a difference in such a war-torn country. Still overrun by giants, the country was desperate for hope, but who were we? After all, we were just rookie missionaries and our mission’s only residents in the land!
While crying out to God on February 17, 1983, I just happened to read these verses. IF God is pleased with us…He will give us the land! What? Just PLEASE GOD and He will do the rest? That very day I began a quest, to find out WHAT pleases God and DO it!
Of course, the answers were in God’s Word: without faith it’s impossible to please God. So, I sought to know God more and discovered that the more I knew God, the more I trusted Him, and the more I trusted Him, the easier it was to obey. I also believed what Jesus said, the pure in heart will see God. So, I finally came to this conclusion: if I please God with faith, obedience, and purity, I will see GOD at work now!
So why NOT make pleasing God my life quest?
HIS power through me will slay giants in any land!
