“When they received their pay, they protested to the owner, ‘Those people worked only one hour, and yet you paid them just as much as you paid us who worked all day in the scorching sun heat.’ He answered, ‘… Should you be jealous because I am kind to others?’”

I may not protest verbally, but sometimes my heart has protested— “I’ve spent my life moving from place to place. Why does SHE get to stay home? Why does SHE get to live by HER kids and grandkids? It’s not fair!”
Ouch! Who am I to question the Shepherd of my life? HE created me and HE created “her!” Everything each of us has is a gift from OUR Father. Whether it’s our unique abilities for our specific tasks or the time we’ve each been given to fulfill those tasks, it all came from the One who loves us BOTH! And HE chooses to give EACH of us blessing after blessing out of the abundance of HIS heart!
When I lose focus of my own God-given assignments and begin sticking my nosy head into other people’s business, that’s when jealousy sticks its ugly head into my heart! When I fixate on THEIR blessings, I lose sight of my own. Instead of being thankful for what Father has given ME, I become jealous of what Father has given THEM.
So again, Jesus reminds me that HIS Kingdom is all about relationship. If I spend my time getting to know the God who loves ME, I won’t protest about how God loves HER!
Loving God more means protesting less!
