“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your Heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
Matthew 6:31-33 NLT
Before these verses, Jesus had described Kingdom life:
-Begin with a humble attitude
-BE salt and light
-Connect with God through relationship
-Restore relationships with others
-Love your enemies
-Don’t DO to be seen, DO because of relationship
-Live with people focus, not things focus
It was following these teachings Jesus said, “THAT is why I tell you not to worry!” The Father cares for the birds and dresses the flowers. Yet, YOU are MORE valuable—He is YOUR Father! SO, do not worry about things!
Notice Jesus said worry dominates the minds of unbelievers. People who do not know God as Father worry about things. We may work hard to obey His rules, or we may even carry around crystals or stones He created, but unless we open our hearts to relationship with the Father, we will never get to KNOW Him. And if we don’t KNOW our Father, we won’t TRUST Him—instead, we will worry!
Jesus gave us the antidote for worry—seek first GOD’s Kingdom and HIS righteousness! On November 1, 1970, Ron Sommers and I made a commitment to live together for the rest of our lives—for the sake of HIS Kingdom. Today I can testify—Jesus’ words are true! Our Father has ALWAYS given us EVERYTHING we need!
Kingdom living truly has NO WORRIES!
