“When You’ve Nothing Left”

“Then Jesus called his disciples and told them, ‘I feel sorry for these people. They have been here with me for three days, and they have nothing left to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, or they will faint along the way.’”

Matthew 15:32 NLT

We sometimes forget God has feelings. How could the God of the universe care about the details of our lives? But this verse paints quite a different picture. After hours of ministry to a vast crowd of needy people, Jesus felt sorry for them. They had spent three days on a hillside far from home, and they had no more food to eat.

Right now, you could be sitting in the comfort of the most expensive home on the street and yet feel like you’re out on a hillside—famished from the blows of life and totally empty. Perhaps you’ve been there for days, maybe months or even years. Perhaps you’ve exhausted your resources of faith and have no hope left. You need to know this—JESUS feels sorry for those who have nothing left, and He acts on their behalf.

On that Galilean hillside Jesus multiplied bread so 4,000 people wouldn’t faint along the way. Instead, they all ate as much as they wanted! (v 37) Likewise, the Jesus who died FOR you on another hillside, is WITH you on your hillside. HE knows the food you had stored is either finished or stale, but HE is your Bread of Life!

Jesus doesn’t want you to faint along life’s way

HIS Word restores souls—and you can eat as much as you want!
