“When Ruth went back to work again, Boaz ordered his young men, ‘Let her gather grain right among the sheaves without stopping her. And pull out some heads of barley from the bundles and drop them on purpose for her. Let her pick them up and don’t give her a hard time!’”
Ruth 2:15-16
Evidently, Boaz was moved to see a young woman leave her home, come to a strange land, serve her mother-in-law, and even worship her God. His tender heart must have prompted these amazing orders…let her gather grain…don’t stop her…and pull out some heads of barely and drop them on purpose!
Boaz was talking about grain from HIS bundles, grain taken out of HIS abundance and dropped on purpose for Ruth to pick up! That makes me wonder…What does my Master drop on purpose for me? Perhaps He drops words He wants me to hear. They could come from bundles of truth gathered by one of my siblings, or they could come directly from the abundance of HIS Word. Perhaps He unexpectedly drops people in my path that He wants me to meet or drops circumstances He has planned on purpose, just for me.
The grain that Ruth’s master had dropped on purpose for her would have never fed her hunger if Ruth had not picked it up! What about me? My Master is dropping blessings from HIS abundance all around me every day, but if I don’t pick up on what HE is doing, then my soul could very well go hungry!
Oh Master, help me pick up on the blessings you drop on purpose, just for me!
