The armies of Israel quaked in fear every time they heard Goliath’s threats. But notice when a young shepherd boy came on the scene, his response had no hint of fear.
David had never met this giant before, but David had met the LORD over all giants! In fact, that God had delivered him multiple times from lions and bears, and in turn David worshiped Him with harp and psalm. David was confident Goliath would be defeated--because he knew God!
Preparation to face giants took place long before David even knew Goliath existed! But God knew, so HE gave David opportunities to experience HIS power. David could have lived in fear of more enemy attacks, but instead he chose to focus on the GOD who had delivered him! That treasure in David’s heart was his confidence. Goliath’s power was nothing compared to the power of the God David knew!
Because God knows all the giants YOU will ever face, He makes sure you too have opportunities to experience HIS faithfulness. So, will you worship GOD for His deliverance, or will you waste time analyzing every detail of those terrible attacks? Licking your wounds will never prepare you to face the next giant. But focusing on Your loving Healer and Deliverer will give all the confidence you need to face any giant!
