“Unnamed but NOT Un-honored”

“‘Take a servant with you and go look for the donkeys.’ So Saul took one of the servants.

But the servant said, ‘There is a man of God…Let’s find him. Perhaps he can tell us which way to go…I have one small silver piece. We can at least offer it to the man of God…’”

1 Samuel 9:3-8

God had instructed Samuel to give Israel the king they requested, but how would Samuel ever find him? Fortunately, God’s plan not only ordained a certain man to be king, but He ordained a certain man to bring that king to Samuel!

That person’s name was never mentioned, but his role was absolutely essential. HE was the one who told Saul about the man of God, and HE was the one who gave his own small coin for an offering to the man of God.

GOD had told Samuel the day before about a man HE would send. But it was because a servant offered his knowledge about a man of God, and because that servant unselfishly gave all he had for a mission that was not his own, Samuel met Saul! If the unnamed servant had not done his part, who knows how history would have been written!

The servant’s name remained unknown, but GOD made sure HIS servant received honor. That very day, “Samuel brought Saul and his servant into the hall and placed them at the head of the table, honoring them above the thirty special guests.” (v.22)

You may feel unnamed in this world, but you can be sure--

GOD sees every humble act of HIS special servants!
